Hi,
We are in the process of selling our house and the land registry has a restriction recorded on there going back to 2014 and we have no idea what it is, the company number on companies house is showing as a company that no longer exists but is now a new company that deals with boilers only we have never had a boiler installed. There is no way to contact this company I've been going round in circles! how do we find out what this restriction is about and how to remove it?

Were you the owners in 2014?
If it's the same company number then it's the same company (possibly with a change of name), the numbers aren't reused. What's the company? If it's a live company then it has a registered office, so you contact them there if there's no alternative.1 -
Ecovision Financial Services Limited (Co. Regn. No. 08139655) of Barley Court, Doughton, Tetbury,Gloucestershire GL8 8TQ.

Yep got that far as well but we never had any HP. We only ever had government funded free external insulation in that year, it's so frustrating0

The information we have may not include anything more than what you already have but unless checked you can't be sure
As for removing the restriction then that's a form RX3 plus supporting evidence to show that it can be cancelled - Cancel a restriction: registration (RX3) - GOV.UK
The supporting evidence is going to be the issue of course and your legal rep should be able to help in that regard. From your post it appears you have no knowledge of the interest the restriction is protecting so waiting for the contact form response is probably best to see what that reveals. You/your legal rep can then consider any challenge as appropriate“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Land Registry. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"3 -
As above apply for a copy of the restriction.Even though the property received free insulation it may have been a requirement for a charge to be registered, no doubt hidden in the small print of the agreement.1
