I'm looking at downsizing from an American f/ f which is near end of life and too big and like the idea of a vintage style one but know nothing of the makes CDA and electriQ which seem to make the more affordable ones with CDA being rated D and others E I think.
Has anyone experience/ recommendations. Is energy efficiency likely to improve in next year or so if I wait? Many thanks

ElectriQ is a brand owned by Appliances Direct, who knows who's designing or manufacturing them for them.
CDA are generally good for their price but like many brands at the more budget end of the scale their quality control isnt always great.
No one outside the companies will know for certain when new products are coming out. Chasing higher efficiency is often the aim of higher brands but that does in time have trickle down.
Remember the rating systems have changed recentlyish so the AAA and the AAAA++++ have all been rebaselined so the scores now appear much lower than on the old scale. Looking at the Smeg retro styled F/F they are a E rating too. Looking outside of retro styling there are no A rated F/Fs at all, a few Bs and a few more Cs but most are D and E

You'll pay a lot of money for a good retro style fridge/freezer.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

I had a nardi one in cream when we did the kitchen originally and loved it. When that got scruffy inside I tried everywhere to replace it with a similar one but we needed a left hand hinge. The retro doors are not reversible because of the handles. I contacted several of the makers initially, thinking it was just a case of waiting to order a left hander, but they all said only righthander made. The only brand that seems to do them with both left and right hinges are Smeg and they were too expensive for us, and to be honest the quality was no different from the Nardi which was just a bit more than half the price.0

Thank you for ideas, never heard of nardi but looked online and looks like they may not do fridges anymore. I think european ones have gone up, and Smeg never an option - so will think and see if I can get any discount on other options. Fridge is in dining area so thought retro may be good as I have my dad's dining room furniture 1959!0
