Hi all I’m a few months into my journey of self managed DMP. I had a default letter from Hastings loan in June, nothing is still showing on credit file but debt has not been sold on. What do I do not make contact until it shows on file? Or contact new company and update regarding a default notice?
thanks
thanks

Don't do anything until it both shows on your credit report and someone has contacted you asking for payment, then start paying them whatever figure you have worked out.Did the letter give you a date to pay arrears by to avoid a default? Normally you'd get a letter like that, then when you don't pay you'l get another letter saying the account has been terminated, and then a few months later the default will show on your credit report.0

Thanks for reply ive not had a second letter saying my account is being terminated by Hastings but ive now had arceurope contact me for full payment. So I just ignore them also? Do I contact Hastings stating I had no contact regarding my account etc.
thanks0 -
Did they demand the repayment of the full amount and refer to the Consumer Credit Act?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I’ve only had a default notice from Hastings to pay in 14 days, not the end of contact or all amount due and now it’s gone to a collection agency. So I’m a bit confused.0

Hi, I have same form Arc for an HSBC credit card debt. They are just managing on behalf of as far as I believe…my credit file still shows the debt with HSBC, although nothing in app, which I believe is due to my default and them closing the account.
i basically just set up a standing order for £5…and haven’t heard anything since…that’s been 3 payments now (debt is around £4k)0 -
Thank you all for replies, my only worry is still no default on my credit file yet I’ve been passed to these guys……. So was just thinking of the next step?
do I contact Hastings?Or do I start payments without default I don’t want a CCJ.
thanks again for support0 -
They can't just magic a CCJ out of thin air. If they are thinking about going for one they have to follow the legal procedure which means they have to send you a letter by snail mail that you have to reply to within 30 days.
Should you get one of them come back for advice on how to handle it.If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
I know the experts will be here soon, but definitely don’t make any payments if it’s not yet defaulted or showing as a default on your credit file x0
