hi i have asked a similar ?? months ago but need some advice as im finding things a little confusing
ok my 18yr old son left full time education a few weeks ago and is currently looking for work and still lives at home and he recieves NO benefits
i am single and live mortgage free in my own home and was on ESA and high pip in both categorys.I was migrated to UC November 2004 and recieved £213 in Transitional Protection because no one was caring for me on top of UC payments for me (disabled)and son in full time education
fast forward to now and have notified UC that my son is no longer a dependent but still living with me looking for work, they replied in my journal that i would lose the child ellement (fair enough i knew that) but are now saying my Transitional Protection will be effected but they cant tell me how much till the 18th of August
does anybody know if this is correct,is it because my son is now a non dependent and the Transitional Protection was for the SDP when on ESA, does now not count because my son is living with me and now a non dependent
thank you in advance

I don't think it's correct, AFAIK that isn't a significant change of circumstance that would end TP.
Let's Be Careful Out There1 -
Transitional Protection goes down if your UC award goes up, or ends with a major change of circumstances (such as becoming or stopping being a couple).
Your UC award will go down not up, so your TP should remain the same.
Also it being paid due to SDP is irrelevant now because as you know SDP doesn't exist under UC. So none of the old SDP rules apply.2 -
really interesting thanks
i guess i have not got long to find out so will ciome back and let you know what UC say0
