Hazel tree second flowering?

We've got a lovely council owned Turkish hazel outside our house, and in addition to nuts (not too many this year) there's now a second flush of catkins and some of the leaves have brown dried patches - is this likely just heat/weather stress?

Quite possibly. It's going into emergency mode or confused by the heat, cold evenings, spring, autumn like weather 😬
The trees in my area are getting brown leaves and shedding seed and leaves it's so dry here
Oddly I think I saw catkins on some trees the other day and thought that was odd.
Maybe some branches that didn't produce due to the sudden onrush of heat in spring are confused into floweringI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Oh bless it - it's taller than our house and we really love it (despite half of the family being seriously allergic) as it shields us from the sun in summer and provides a generous rain protective canopy. I guess there's nothing we can do it aid it?

You could always give it a hug 😉
As in Shinrin yoku.
And talk to it.
I planted a red leaved plum outside my bungalow bedroom to block the view. But it fills the view with early blossom then shadows of waving leaves.
What I didn't know was that it will also block the rising sun and the heat from it so my life has been made better in so many ways 💕I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
