Strange, I worked for 6 local authorities and one academy chain. I was always paid on the last day of the month.Organgrinder said:Teachers get paid on different days in different authorities. Many authorities either pay on the 28th or 14th of the month.
I've worked in four local authorities, none of which pay on the last day of the month.

With my job it's basically the time to submit my timesheet and get it authorised - so I can't submit any time for the last day of the month until the 1st of the following month - then it takes a few days to process and they make sure it's not until after the 6th of the month (as first payment was 6 April/this tax year so I don't receive 'double' salary one month). This month, the 6th was a Saturday so payment wasn't made until Monday 8th. Right rigmarole.

Feeling all square with our bills now so far this month so that's good. Trying to cut right back on all spending on any 'extras', so far just a 99p kindle book. Annoyingly the payment for that was set up as my credit card as I've recently changed bank accounts and my new debit card hadn't been updated.0

ASDA lenses are plastic - and I think the high index ones are 1.74 index. Not sure if they offer the 1.9 glass lenses but I had these years ago and they are so fragile. My prescription is -7.5 and -7.0 or thereabouts - for my frames 1.74 index are fine. Normal 1.5 index lenses would however look like bottle ends.[Deleted User] said:

Right, where are we?! Doing pretty well with a drastic cut back this month and sorted out a couple of bills too - knocked around £50pcm off our energy bills and £35pcm(!) off the pet insurance renewal quote we got. Happy with that.
I'm slogging through an application form.
Decided to keep going with the additional training I'm doing too. 🤞2 -
Great savings there loobidoo, that's £1020 over the next 12 months. Amazing!
Glad to hear you are going to keep going with your additional training. Goid luck with the long run up to your payday - stay strong!https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6621582/ynab-robber-needs-help-to-execute-the-plan/p1

Ooft, such a lot going on since my lost post
I guess I can skip a whole lot and say things are going well:
- new better paid job
- side hustle started back up - about £100 a week for 8 weeks
- OH has applied for a promotion too
- training is almost finished - an exam in April or May 😬
The new job is so much better and will work out well but I'm still waiting on my first pay being paid even though I started mid-December 😣 Painful!
So then in January I am only getting paid for 11 days in December, but by the time the end of Feb comes I'll get a full wage.
I've been working through a free budgeting template that I've altered to suit and hopefully it'll work out well.
We've paid for YNAB for about 10 years but I've not used it as much this year so I'm trying to find something that works before we need to pay for the year. Now we're using Monz o pots they'll do the heavy lifting of the sinking funds, all our bills come out of the account our salaries go into, and then we transfer money to a day-to-day pot, taking out a set amount each week to cover food, petrol, household spends. I'm currently working out what that weekly pot needs to be by going through the past 3 months of spending.

Finally got paid - long time since my last pay day on 8 December.
Quite happy with my new budgeting spreadsheet now so I'm glad I cancelled YNAB and not paying for the renewal.
Tracking a new metric - how much is in the joint account on my payday. Happy to report £475.88 this month.
Our joint account is only bills now - not spending. It's working well and means we only have to track a day-to-day account with £175 per week. That's food, petrol, any household spending, DIY. Seems like more than enough, but there is always something and this is hopefully a realistic amount that stops up dipping into sinking funds. OH's birthday this month so that'll cover a family meal out and presents for him too. Trip to IKEA tomorrow to get some bits, then clothes/uniform, money for school etc too.
Booked a trip for May bank holiday - can pay accommodation on arrival so time to save.
