Over looked signage

I have been sent a parking charge notice.
Long story but our usual car park was full, we went in to what we have always believed to be the overflow. I purchased a ticket from our usual machine.
It transpires that the two car parks are privately run by two separate companies. I have pleaded my case and even offered to pay the car park fee again but they are not having any of it. Please advise should I pay £60 or take the appeal to POPLA.
I am a pensioner and this is worrying me sick. It's not like we did not intend paying.
Thank you for reading. I hope you can advise.

We did go back and from the car park we always use. It is hard to see the other signage for Clink Road, as it is directly behind as you enter, and on the day we just didn't look/see that it was run by another company. As our friends managed to get in by the shops. My friend was having trouble getting her money in. We helped her and automatically purchased our ticket.
So as we purchased a ticket for the wrong car park would we win an appeal with POPLA as the fine goes up to £100 if we use them.

Do these pictures clearly show an apparent single car park, with no clear demarcation between two different car park operators?

You need to "walk" the POPLA assessor through your argument, CLEARLY showing that this is two different operators sharing one car park, with no clear separation. That is not what you have shown so far.

These two car parks crop up on here regularly, so something must be wrong with the signage etc. and both car parks are joined by a common walk way.
Looking at both signs, there doesn't seem to be anything stating that you must purchase a ticket from a certain machine for a certain area.
The ticket you have purchased doesn't identify which car park it was purchased for (hmm I wonder why).
Neither parking forms are displaying the correct BPA logo ( a COP requirement) it should be the round logo stating they are members of an ATA and an approved operator, not the corporate logo, which tells you nothing.
You do not have a "fine" it's an invoice for damages.
As the parking company only get money from people breaking their made up rules, not from the parking charge, they won't accept your parking fee offer.
They actually want rule breakers it means more money if people pay up.
But Car Parkers is literally a one man band he's unlikely to have the time or resources to take this much further than silly ignorable debt collectors letters.

    There is no fine.

It doesn't 'go up' to £100 because you won't pay even if you lost at POPLA.

Give it a try with your evidence.

Read the THIRD post of the NEWBIES thread about how to do POPLA. Include these points too:

Looking at both signs, there doesn't seem to be anything stating that you must purchase a ticket from a certain machine for a certain area. The ticket purchased doesn't identify which car park it was purchased for (hmm I wonder why).
Neither parking firms are displaying the correct BPA logo ( a COP requirement).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
