Hi,
I'm a complete newbie to this and all forums.
My husband and I are separating, and he is going into rented accommodation.
He has said that he will transfer the equity and all rights to the house we own together (via mortgage) over to me, as we have a grown up daughter who is autistic and will probably never work or move out (she rarely leaves the house).
I have just claimed UC for her since my husband and I separated and she has only had one payment. We are waiting for an assessment for capacity for work, which they said will take months. She gets PIP, which she has had for numerous years now. This is paid into my bank account as I am her appointee.
I spoke to a mortgage advisor who said I don't earn enough to get a mortgage in just my name. He has advised me to ring my current mortgage provider and asking if she can be put on the mortgage with me. I am aware that she needs to have 3 months of UC payments before I can do this. However, my husband thinks that if she gets put on the mortgage and land registry, then she will lose her UC. Is there anyone who can tell me if this is the case?

Your daughter being on mortgage and land registry for the property where she lives, would have no affect on her Universal Credit claim. As it is her main home Universal Credit ignores any equity held by her.
It only financial interest in other properties that would affect Universal Credit. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.2
