Kitchen tap spout emptying itself

The kitchen tap keeps "vomiting" water and emptying the spout - so when I go to turn on the tap, there's a wait before the water comes out - any ideas as to what needs replacing?

Any water that is after the valve in the tap is water that you do not want to use, it has been open to the air, you should always run the free water from the tap before using it.kimwp said:The kitchen tap keeps "vomiting" water and emptying the spout - so when I go to turn on the tap, there's a wait before the water comes out - any ideas as to what needs replacing?1 -

The only result I can imagine is lower content of chlorine.I have a feeling that it's yet another urban myth.

I agree that makes no sense at all. What happens if you fill a jug with water then?!grumpy_codger said:MattMattMattUK said:

I’ve only ever seen that advice given where you have a lead supply pipe. Run a bit off when you come back from holiday to avoid drinking the water that’s been standing in the pipe for a while as the lead concentration might have increased.
OP has the aerator broken on the tap nozzle maybe? Whenever I take mine off to clean it (hard water area) the water empties from the tap.0
