International Private Health Insurance (China)

Options
My daughter and her boyfriend are soon moving to teaching jobs in China but international health insurance seems to be extremely expensive ( this might be the case but since it’s all new to them they are unsure) . They got a quote from AXA for over £100 each per month - please does anyone have any tips/ recommendations for any good medical insurance companies that might be more affordable? Thanks !

Our UK only cover is just over £200 each per month, though suspect we are a little older!

Are they buying the insurance because they want it and need it to respond in the event of a claim or are they buying as it's a legal requirement and would be ok seeing it as a tickbox exercise?

I'd try a broker, ideally an advisory one, who specialises in this field and will be able to tell you the differences between policies and not just the price. Have you looked at any "ex-pat" sites for people in China and see if they recommend anyone in particular? Some known brands here have joint ventures in China which may be cheaper than an "international" variant.

@MyRealNameToo - thanks they’re just wanting it “in case” rather than legal necessity. Will have another dig around but doesn’t seem to be too much advice out there.
