Timing of current account switch in relation to Direct Debits

Just wondering when is the best time to organise a switch with respect to Direct Debit payments so there’s no issue? I have two Direct Debits, one on the 17th and one on the 28th but I’m waiting to get my final Cashback from 123 Lite on the 9th.

Hi jem16, I just fell foul of this as I didn't read the old T&Cs properly! So I missed out on my last £4.50 from Santander oops.

To get the cashback, at least two direct debits have to be live/active on the cashback date (the 9th for you), so arrange the switch to begin after that date.
(As well as continuing to meet the other usual criteria which I think is paying in £500/month?)

Yes I was waiting till the 9th anyway to get the cashback.

However waiting till then gets within 10 days of the first DD coming out so wasn't sure if it would have enough time even if I said the switch should happen right away. Same if I wait till that one is paid but again only 10 days till the next.

My experience with DDs and switching is that they are usually pretty seemless. DDs due before your switch date come out of your old account and any DDs due after the switch date  come out of the new account. The 7 day CASS period allows sufficient time for DDs to be set up and ready to be used as/when they are needed.
