The post above (and the article referenced) give good warning about this scam.

    This is from the piece
Martin Richardson at National Fraud Helpline, a law firm that specialises in scam recovery cases, describes it as “one of the most sophisticated and convincing scams we have seen”.

Does anyone else find it annoying that a law firm that will assist you after the fact, no doubt for a chunk of any cash recovered, can be called this? In fact, if you Google "fraud helpline" then several such firms are returned as sponsored links before the official Action Fraud details are given.

I look forward to some other law firms, no doubt called "National National Fraud Helpline Fraud Helpline" starting up to take on this cause...

Its a trading style rather than the name of the company (which is Richardson Hartley Law Ltd)

There are a list of sensitive words that you cannot simply just use in your company name and requires you to get permission from the relevant governmental body. I know someone who went through the process to be able to have "British" in their company name which given it wasnt their surname and was at the start of the name in principle meant they had to go through lots of hops... personally can't see how they made it but they did.

In principle Burger King had to too as "King" requires approval from the cabinet office.

Technically trading styles are the same but given there is no register of them it's a little harder to enforce.

Surprisingly "national" however is not a sensitive word or phrase so anyone can in theory use it even if your service is only actually sold to a handful of residences.

To be fair to National Fraud Helpline at least they got the money back.

These scammers are sick and getting worse. They need to be caught and named and shamed.

I’ve no idea how they sleep at night.

i was scammed years ago but never got my money back.
