Morning all, thank you for the warm welcome back. Hello to the "new to me" people too.
Today we have intermittent sun and cloud but the wind has started to pick up, I hope those in the path of the coming storm stay safe.
Everything on my list was done yesterday except the shed clearing/cleaning, that would have been one step too far, even now I've got my engines running but my wheels refuse to move, think I've been clamped ! 😂. I have my jigsaw to keep me amused and there's some ironing in the basket should I care to accept that mission. Tea today will be pork steaks, roasties and veg etc and I'll plate one up for dad so that at least I know he's had one nutritious meal, he seems to be living on biscuits and cornflakes otherwise.
I forgot to say yesterday that we have finally finished papering our bedroom, we'd been procrastinating about that since before my cancer. Helpfully DGD came and stripped the wallpaper and then did some filling, then we managed to do the wallpapering, that took us a while but now I'm looking for some paint for the last wall. Who knew there were about 20 different shades of grey, I've already sampled a couple but they are all far too dark.
We've also found one of Dad's old friends (sadly he doesn't have many left as he's outlived them) to witness his POA so we've started that process, he's becoming incapable of dealing with his finances as he gets confused as to what's what.
Take care all, have a good Sunday whatever you are doing. Hugs to anyone in need.

Morning all and thanks @Gers for the start. The weather yesterday was better than expected with a fair bit of sun, dry and mild - I sometimes wonder if the forecasters deliberately err on the side of caution! Cloudy this morning but should brighten up soon with temperatures of around 21 deg before overnight rain arrives. The lull before the storm - literally!
I shopped for my bits and bobs yesterday - DS gave me a lift there and back - and while his laundry was in the WM he taught me the rudiments of chess. We had two games that he won of course but I enjoyed it and am tickled my 76-year old brain actually took it in!He's also taken a couple of things from the decluttering pile. All in all, an enjoyable day.
Despite having had a good night's sleep (apart from hearing an owl hooting away for all he was worth), I'm shattered today; not ill, just drained and it feels as if I'm walking through treacle so it will be a more Slothful Sunday than usual.I'll do what has to be done but everything else can wait as there's nothing mega urgent. Tea tonight is steak pie with gravy, veg & potatoes, fruit & yogurt for afters.
I don't watch a great deal of TV but I've finally exhausted everything that Freeview has to offer and am fed up of constant repeats of repeats, so I've finally bitten the bullet and have ordered a smart TV, to be delivered sometime this week. The plan is for the old one to go up in the bedroom once I've organised for an aerial connection to be installed up there.
Apologies, I've read but can't remember what everyone has said (brain fog). Sorry to hear you've not been having a great time Nan but pleased to see you back. A belated Happy Birthday for you and an advance one for your DH too. Take care all and enjoy what's left of the weekend. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Good afternoon
Drizzle out, but not too dreary.
Everything ready now for the family who arrive tomorrow. DD has kindly scheduled an Oc*do delivery, mainly things that will be used most, loo rolls, milk, bread etc. She is also providing the dgd's fruit and berries, of which they eat a lot. Eldest dgd has become vegetarian, so she is providing her meals, so considerate of her. I'll concentrate on the main meals.
Dinner today will be a steak pie, will do some roasties while the ovens on.
Nan, good to see you back, belated happy birthday sorry to hear of your health problems.
Izzy, enjoy your beef, I love a good bargain.
Hugs to all who need them, sorry if I've forgotten you. Have a good Sunday all, take care.

Hello all, realised I hadn't posted again! Yesterday was a very long day at DGS tournament. We didn't know it was happening but the top 4 teams ended up doing a mini Champions league so it was well into the afternoon when it was finished from a 9 o clock start. Normally I'd have taken a mini picnic. My cousin lives nearby this particular sports club and came to watch mid morning and stayed until the end, she'd enjoyed it as did all our supporters.Got a text from DNiece, could she bring her little 'un to see the dog and then we'd go to the park.We just got home before she arrived. She did buy me an ice cream at the cafe though
, was nice to see them, been a while.
Nan- lovely to hear from you. I'm 70 this month tooSorry you've been having health problems though.
I got absolutely soaked this morning dogwalking on the park , been better this afternoon, warmed up a bit but it's just dull now.Glad you had a good night Mehefin.Sounds like some of you have had some good trips out, gardening, new cupboard days etc. Take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
