Health Insurance for Visa to Croatia

My son is have a baby with his Croatian partner, and is applying for a visa to live out there. He tells me the visa requires proof of health insurance. Does anyone know where to get this type of insurance, would it be from a travel insurance provider or medical insurance provider, and are there sites anyone can recommend to get quotes? Typical son asking me to help him, but I haven’t got a clue! Does he need a EHIC or is that only for temporary stays. Does he get short term travel insurance and then pay for the health cover whilst he is there? His partner isn’t much help!

Has he asked the Croatian embassy?

I suggest he explores online resources for expatriates in Croatia (or elsewhere in Europe). He might consider going there as a tourist and looking round, perhaps asking the British Consul there.

What sort of visa is he applying for? Something where he's just visiting or him looking to emigrate there?

Different classes of visa have different requirements so you need to be clear... Class C is for full duration of your holiday whereas Class D is for 30 days.
