Surely that's a question for the insurance company? They'll be able to give a factual answer whereas anyone on here will be guessing.4

PL is written on a "losses occurring during" basis so the insurance would cover any valid claim made for damages caused during the period of insurance. However PL is there to protect him not you and generally the PL insurer will only respond if their client instructs them to; its different to Motor and EL where you have a legal right to claim from the wrongdoers insurance and its a matter of public record.jonboy11111 said:Hi our builder has left us abandoned half way through our new extension I have telephoned his public liability and he cancelled his insurance apparently when he folded 2 months ago will it still be valid whilst he was doing the work to progress with a claim many thanks
You've not said why you want to claim off their PL though? PL would cover them for accidentally dropping a hammer and it going through your conservatory roof and smashing expensive porcelain tiles etc it doesnt cover him walking off any not completing the job he was in contract to do.1 -
What's the claim for?0

Would not think PL ins would cover not finishing the work.
More for if they dropped a brick on someones head. That sort of thing.
But if they have folded (check companies house) then court action will be a waste of money.Life in the slow lane2
