Help?? Luton Airport Parkway / London

Hi all
can anyone please advise?
we are expecting a couple of US student travellers for a few days visit. they fly into London on Friday and were going to get a train to us (Nottingham) on Saturday. however, they are already feeling the pinch, with the dollar exchange rate not being in their favour, so we condered about collecting them to save on massive train fares.
because of the road works, we thought it best for them to make it to a reasonable point, and I remembered seeing signs on the M1 for a park and ride near Luton.
a bit of a search has brought up the Luton Airport Parkway, but the sites keep freezing up when i try and check times/prices etc.
does anyone use it/know about it and can advise if this would be a reasonable option for our visitors to meet us. is it expensive? a regular service?
anything that can help
thanks in advance

The station at Luton Parkway is on the First Capital Connect line from Brighton to Bedford. If by any chance they are flying into Gatwick they could get the train straight to Luton Parkway without changing. If they fly into Heathrow or maybe spending the night in London, then they need to make their way to St. Pancras Domestic terminal and they can catch a train to the Parkway station, there are usually 4 an hour.
Before you go to all that trouble of driving from Nottingham, have you checked the rail fares? I am going to Sheffield on Saturday, on the same East Midlands mainline via Nottingham and got single tickets in First Class for £14, so I suspect there may be standard class tickets for even less, and I only booked on Monday this week!
If you decide to drive, luckily the nightmare roadworks start just south of Luton on the M1, you will find signs to the station from Junction 10 signposted for Luton Airport, if the traffic is stationary, it can be, leave at 11 and drive through the centre of Luton, the Parkway station is to the south of the town and has plenty of car parking available.0 -
thanks Alan
