    Very fair! Doesn't hurt to leave the wires in the wall I guess.

    Depending on the number of cores, the wiring could be pressed in to use with other sensors. I have 4-core Belden cable running to various rooms to link temperature/humidity sensors to a home automation system. Could add sensors to detect if a window or door was open and trigger an alert when the last person leaves...
    Many people will use a zigbee sensor, but they need batteries replaced on a regular basis, and I really can't be ar**d to do that.
