'returns' advantage of simple delivery (and never sell clothes)

Options
I never sell clothes, but when sorting through some items decided that one piece of clothing might be worth bothering with, so I listed and it sold- my first item of clothing on ebay for over a year.

Just had the return request as it doesn't fit, I've no real issue with that (other than the annoyance that i should have stuck with never selling clothes)  as I offer returns even on my private accounts as it avoids buyers being forced down the 'SNAD' route.

However, on this occasion I lose nothing except the 6p or so the packaging bag cost me. Item was sold with simple delivery, so I have not paid the outward postage which would have cost me £3.45 normally, and of course buyer is being charged for the return.

Going back to not selling clothes any more.

I only have a private account and don't accept returns ( obviously except for SNAD).

I am very careful with my listing description and photos, showing sizes clearly and often measurements.

I've never had a SNAD that I've not won as a seller, although I've only had a couple in the 20+ years of selling.

I had a buyer where the package had gone missing after delivery to their block of flats main door. Told them to put a case in with eBay as its simple delivery. eBay refunded them at no cost to me and it saved me having to deal with Royal Mail. So far simple delivery has one advantage.

Quite agree, I actually like Simple Delivery now. I had a buyer who had not got their item even though it was posted the day she paid but it was delayed in the RM system so she opened an Item not Received case. Ebay refunded her at no cost to me and then parcel was delivered to her the following day.

Before SD that would have cost me as I would have had to refund. As it was it cost me nothing and the buyer got a free item.
