How to cancel recurring debit card payment to Apple

I have tried to login to my Apple account to cancel Apple TV after resetting the password (which was a major task in itself without an Apple device 😫), but an error message keeps coming up. Their support team haven't been any help. I can't see another way to cancel the subscription (there is no option in the Apple TV app itself) and it's getting really frustrating! Can I just cancel my recurring debit card payment through the bank or will doing it this way get me in trouble with Apple? Thanks

Write a message/email to Apple terminating the service (assuming you are out of contract or never had a contract) and then ask the bank to remove the payment authority
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Same way your employer can't just stop paying you and say they assumed it was obvious that you were fired when they cancelled the payments.
In practice many companies just write off small debts rather than going through debt collection however they may prohibit you from being a customer again or may require the debt to be paid off before allowing you to subscribe again. RyanAir did this with those who falsely did chargebacks on flights during 2020/2021, they add the cost of the old flight to the new if the person tries to buy another flight.
I admit I predominately use Apple Devices but the one time I had to reset my password without one near by I didnt find it particularly challenging.1 -

Just ring your bank to stop the CPA.
While it does not stop the contract, as per @MyRealNameToo
Apple TV is just a rolling monthly contract. Not a fixed term contract.
So if any issue Apple would contact you.Life in the slow lane0
