    Not always so. Gixen, for one, uses an API whereby you authorise it to bid on your eBay account, but Gixen never needs to know your eBay password.

    Personally, I can't imagine any serious eBay Buyer who would not be using a sniping service - the advantages are way too many. I also struggle to recall the last time that I saw an auction which I was interested in being won by anything other than a sniping (last few seconds) bid.
