Morning all, thanks for the start @Scarlet. Hope all goes well today for your DH and a Happy Birthday for your DS too. Yesterday's weather was a bit meh, dull all day but the rain managed to hold off until teatime. Slightly better today and I can see some strips of blue sky but of course random showers can't be ruled out. I'm finding evenings quite chilly and have brought out a throw for my legs - can't believe I'm doing this in July.
Yesterday I nipped out to post DD's birthday card and popped into the Co-op - wouldn't you know it, they didn't have the one item I really wanted! There were quite a few long dated pantry items on clearance but the price reductions weren't sufficient to tempt me - I'll wait to see if they come down a bit more. Two more books borrowed from the Little Free Library - my winter reading stash is growing! A bit of money shuffling done too.
At lunchtime I had a text reminder from my hairdresser about Thursday's appointment, followed by another one late afternoon to cancel - baby has decided he might want to arrive early (as they sometimes do) and she was at the hospital being monitored. Friday would have been her last working day anyway, so the hunt is on for a replacement stylist - I think (hope) my hair will hold out for another couple of weeks before it gets to the birds' nest stage!
Today I'm going to start the Grand Declutter of the walk-in cupboard. I know how I want the end result to look but to achieve that at least 50% will have to go - one way or another.I'll have a freezer rummage for tonight's tea, probably some kind of fish meal will appear on the plate.
@Chrisca - Glad you enjoyed your visit to the V&A, sounds interesting.
@TA - Fingers crossed summer does come back next week for your van trip.
@Ruby - Pleased to hear your DM is back home. Good luck with your new lad and his mum today.
@camelot - Happy new car day. Rubbish in cars - one of life's mysteries!
@remmie - I hope Mrs ND's hospital visit today is helpful.
@Gers - With any luck the MRI will bring good news for you (and your hip). Mmm, cheese - I'd have been tempted too!
@-taff - Busy as ever - I think you need a chisel for behind the tiles.
@Izzy - With rammed freezers you'll not starve to death!
Right, time to brave the cupboard. Healing wishes for the poorly ones, hugs if needed. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Good morning 😊
Hope all goes well for your husband, @ScarletRibbons
@-taff, the soup was lovely. I added dumplings on top, which expanded quite a bit, and made it a filling meal in itself for me, but the rest will do for lunches for the others. The hot and spicy flavour seeped into the dumplings, as well. I will definitely make it again.
Today, I am making both a chicken lasagne, and a mixed bean lasagne, plus a couple extra to use as lunches. Other than that, and the usual chores, it’s going to be a quiet day, so I will do some more reading.
Hope you all have a good day 😊13 -
Hi everyone,
The family have gone out (except for brian who is working), Steve to do some more work on the stables and Laura and the children to meet Crystal and Nate for a playdate (hate that word).
I woke at 4 this morning and could hear something screeching so I switched on my bird call identification app and it said it was a Tawny Owl. It's rare but the habitat it said it needs is described perfectly in a place about 100yds away. It's an old manor with grounds which was a school until about 5 years ago, it's been empty since then, the LA want to build on it but it was left to the people of the town for educational purposes so there is a fight on.
Esther was funny last night, we went for a bike ride, she was on a seat in front of Steve and
Esben was behind him on one of those half bikes that attach to an adults. by the time we got back Esther was sobbing because she wanted to cycle to London (50 miles away). Esben too caused us a bit of hilarity because he asked Steve if the hair on the top of his head had become so big and heavy that it had fallen off.
I want to take advantage of the empty house to do a few jobs - watering the plants without "assistance", making granola and ironing all my linen things which have built up into a bit of a mountain.
I hope your DH's appointment goes well Scarlet.
Gers, fingers crossed it's the treatable option.
Have a good day.12 -
Hi everyone- bit late today. Thanks Scarlet- Happy birthday to your DS, ours is 46 next time gulp.Hope the scan and results go well. Our weather is very mixed, sun one minute, drizzle the next. I got in from this mornings dog walk just in time, and I'd put a washload on to put outside but can't trust it so a blanket & a bath towel is draped over the banister, and the rest on a short TD.Hope DM enjoyed her sleep at home @RedRuby1231& your time with the new lad goes well.Chrisca your day out sounds good. Our new front gate arrived this morning, so DH has painted it, it needs another coat yet. Hopefully will prevent any escapes from L.Lenny! DGS got back from hols yesterday and could'nt wait to see him- he made DS2 stop off on the way back from picking him up from his DMs! He enjoyed his holiday, but itching to get back to football training tonightI'm going to make chicken souvlaki for tea.TTB- the photo of your food looks good!Take care all:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
