Congratulations! That's really well done! By buying a property that was big enough without being too big, you have acheived the fantastic result of being Mortgage-free in your Forties! There is a great peace of mind to be had knowing that your property is now yours, and very little else can happen to mean you will ever be homeless.

I would recommend treating yourself to something really nice with the money that would have been your mortgage payments for the next few months. Then look at starting or increasing your pension savings, so you have the flexibility to retire when you want to.

Sadly, you may also need to keep your retirement plans private, as people can be jealous of people that have managed to save for their retirement.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

    Many congratulations 🎉🎉

I don't know what your future plans are but l think you deserve to treat yourself to at least the equivalent of a mortgage payment or two. You haven't got to this position without making sacrifices.

All the best for the future.

    Great result!

Now don't just get involved in a relationship with a person without a paper agreement on the money side!  (A lesson I had to learn the very hard way)

    Seriously though - Well done.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
