I can't say this in real life...

Because few have this privilege... I couldn't even say this to my best of friends. Or even my Mum!
But I paid off my mortgage yesterday after ten years aged 43, just me.
It's "only" a 2 bed flat, but it's mine. I rented out the master bedroom / ensuite available to a lodger all this time (bar a break for the pandemic), and will continue to do so until I get seriously burnt.
But yeah, that's all I wanted to day.

Well done, treat yourself to a large cuppa and a cream/jam/ice sponge cake (please note: the sponge cake should contain all three)
You deserve it.0 -

Congratulations, well done you 😀!
And who cares if it's "only" (my own place is "only" a one-bed flat) - if it works for you, that's all that matters. Who wants extra rooms to fill with cr*p and have to clean anyway???Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days

HUGE congratulations!!! I am sharing your joy and high fiving you all the way!!
And I relate to 'not being able to share this in real life' - I don't have immediate folks nearby that are on a similar MFW journey to me, so I really appreciate this online space to share the journey.
I hope you have something fun lined up to celebrate!! So chuffed for you!!Debt = £8017/£8017 (100% paid - cleared 26th August 2020) Boiler Fund = £2500/£2500 (100% saved - 26th August 2021)Emergency fund = £5000/£5000 (100% saved - 5th Jan 2025) | Mortgage = £112,153/£132,469 (15% paid)Goal for 2025:1) MFW £3905/£30000 -
My mortgage free was long before it became a thing & after only 12 years instead of the 20 it was supposed to be. I made the mistake of telling someone in real life. It seems that every round thereafter becomes your responsibility. The only person who has a clue of my worth (I'm pushing 80) is my DS who lives with me. So celebrate on here & we will all celebrate with you Well done!!!!4
