My listings are getting hardly any views or watchers lately,  very unusual for me.

I’ve listed the latest one with the promotion option to see if that makes a difference.

What success have others had with the promote option?

eBay now charge the fee once one person has clicked on the ad so it's very likely you will pay the extra % regardless of whether your actual buyer saw it promoted or not. 

There aren't technically selling fees so sticking all listings on 2% promoted will probably balance out to enough extra sales to cover the 2.4% (the % displayed on the SYI form, etc is net of VAT). 

Ignore eBay suggested %, I really can't see you get anything more for paying 10% than you do for paying 2%.

If you have free listings left over best bet is to end all live listings just before pay day weekend and use sell similar to put them straight back up again and then do the same in the middle of the month.

Listings get a boost when they are new, if they don't get engagement they'll sink and rarely be seen.
