OP you need to know a good deal when you see it and that takes a little time and effort studying the market.  Price up a new car vis drive the deal, car wow etc and see what comes up.

He should do- it would work out 1% cheaper!

(It would need the price hiking by 11.1% so that a 10% discount would take it back to the original)

My friend had an MG ZS EV, 70 reg.

He has been looking for a replacement for his wife, so he can use it for cabbing.

They test drove the mew MGS5, Loved it. £33,750 Trophy Long range.

New was cheaper than second hand.

2 Weeks ago we got 10k off new price, mats, Mud flaps and a boot liner on order included.

Deal was 135 miles away, so on the off chance we went to his local dealer and asked if they would match, They did.

So all this there is no money in new or secondhand cars it a load of CXXP.

Still 9.5k off them.
