Home insurance - claim - loss of appearance compensation

Hi all,
I currently have an ongoing home insurance claim for a flood that occured. Two of the kitchen cupboard units have been damaged and the insurance company is stating that they are not liable for replacing them as it would mean replacing other parts of the kitchen. They have discussed loss of appearance compensation but I am unsure on how to negotiate this.
Does anyone have any experience on this please?
Many thanks

A standard policy only covers the items that were damaged, if you dont have matching set cover. A growing minority now states they will cover 50% of the undamaged items if a matching replacement cannot be found but not all do.
Generally if you go to the ombudsman on such cases they have supported the 50% contribution idea, which is why some insurers have adopted it as standard, but there are still considerations, like matching units or flooring in a different room won't be replaced.
A full fat policy will have matching items cover and so one damaged kitchen door that cannot be appropriately replaced will result in all the doors being replaced.2 -
Yes, I can also agree with what MyRealNameToo has said above. (The 50% negotiation.)
You will need to consult the exact wording in your own Policy.
(My own Policy says that it will match Kitchen Units and Bathroom Suite. But I know that, for example, Tiles would not be matched, so that would have to be a potential 50% negotiation.)1
