Any chance to build a driveway or parking

Hi I have a property which doesn't have any parking. The property attached a conservatory in the front garden. Is there any chance to convert the conservatory into driveway, garage or carport? Thanks everyone for the advice.

Are you going to b able to get appropriate access from the road to and from the property ?0

Yes it is able to access from the road to and from the property.

If you have the necessary access then yes, it's not difficult to do from a practical point of view. Probably a key thing is to make sure the sub-base is properly prepared to support the weight of a car. If you're thinking of DIY-ing it, there's tons of useful advice here: https://www.pavingexpert.com/I don't know whether planning permission would be required, you might need to check with your local council on that one. I'm assuming you already have a dropped kerb if you say you've already got access? But from a purely practical point of view, no problem at all, as long as you have sufficient space.

I would definitely check with your local planning office, you may also need permission for a drop curb also.0

If you don't have a dropped kerb wide enough for a driveway, then you'd need to apply to the council. They will consider various factors - things like how large the driveway is, and whether it is safe on your road (for example if you live on a quiet side street vs a busy main road). You also can't rely on seeing other neighbours having a driveway meaning its likely for you - the deciding factors may have changed. Also getting the drop kerb installed can be eye-wateringly expensive - you have to pay the council or use their approved contractors to do this work.1

There are minimum size requirements for a driveway applied by many councils. The OP would certainly need to apply for permission for a drop kerb.0

I did not need planning permission as long as I used permeable material for the driv.
I did need permission from the highways department for the dropped kerb. The forms required are quite complicated but the contractor I used has all the information on computer so he completed the application and sent it in. I did not need to use a specific contractor.
To grub out the front garden of path, grass and shrubs, prepare grounds d may mono blocks was £4000- 4 years ago.0 -
I found this on one local authority website. "Your application(for a drop kerb) may be refused or need planning permission if any of the following apply: you don't have at least 4.8 metres by 2.7 metres of driveway parking. if there are trees or grass verges close to your dropped kerb exit, you're not able to see clearly from your driveway to the road."0
