Parking Charge Notice from sold vehicle

I sold a car in October 2019 and sent all the relevant paperwork off to the DVLA to transfer ownership.
I then received a PCN in early November 2019 for a shopping centre. I wrote to the company explaining that I was no longer the owner of the car and provided the name and address of the new owner. I had a bit of back and forth with the company who had issued the PCN but heard nothing else from them after the middle of 2020, and as far I was concerned the case was closed.

Last month, out of the blue, I received a letter from a different company (ZZPS) stating that I now owe £170. I emailed them the same as I had sent the original company in 2020 and they sent me another letter demanding payment. I called their offices and was told someone would call me back (they didn’t).
I have now received an email stating I have 28 days to confirm with the DVLA the date I sold the car, and to provide a receipt from that date, or else they will escalate.

I no longer have the receipt as it was almost 6 years ago, and I doubt the DVLA records would accurately reflect the date of sale as they hadn’t updated their records by the time I received the original PCN.

I feel a bit stuck now. I absolutely cannot afford to pay £170 but I really don’t want to go to court.

I thought this had been settled in 2020, and it’s all getting a bit stressful. Can someone offer me some advice please?

Thank you!

Yes you do because you can use our template defence and after a bit of paperwork and their daft phone calls asking you to 'settle' DCB Legal will discontinue the claim.

    Scam over.

No hearing. No CCJ or costs risked.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
