I'm disabled and currently claim ADP, New style ESA and UC which is currently topped up to my old benefits level because I had to migrate over from legacy benefits.
My partner is moving in at the end of the year, he has a job with varying hours so I'm just wondering what to expect when I declare him moving in?
Will my UC adjust monthly to cover the shortfall in his wages when he earns less? Will we have to sign him up to UC and make a joint claim? How will my other benefits be affected?
Thanks for any advice you can give, I'm nervous of dropping too much money as I'm sure we all are!

He'll need to claim UC when he moves in and then they will link his claim to yours for a joint claim. His circumstances of income and capital are then obviously considered along with yours and could lead to losing entitlement or some thereof. Universal Credit being monthly assessed could vary given his variable wages.
ADP and NS ESA will be unaffected as personal claims with no means testing. Any help you're getting with Council Tax may well be affected. TP will end if still applies.
Look at whether him claiming carer element of UC makes sense or indeed Carer Support Payment (equivalent of Carers Allowance outside of Scotland) if his income was lower than the threshold and he will provide >35 hours care a week.

Going from a single claim to joint claim, or from joint to single, is one of the changes that terminates any entitlement to Transitional Protection.1

If the OP had a "managed migration" and it sounds like they did, then any transitional element will end when the joint claim is made. Also, if the OP managed migrated from Tax Credits, the transitional protection in terms of the capital disregard will end when joint claim is made.Are the benefit calculators taking account of TP/TE now? Op will need to decide if partner moving in is the best option financially, and if partner will support them if benefits are lost due to the change.0
