Morning all, thanks @Gers for starting today's thread. The Met Office got it partly right for yesterday - it was cloudy all day with a few spits and spots of rain but there wasn't any sun. This morning it looks brighter with high cloud and some strips of blue although there's the (now) usual warning of variable showers.
No visit from DS yesterday (household emergency of leaking boiler) but we did have a phone chat. At least I was spared the chess lesson! Instead, I dipped my toe into the declutter of the cupboard of doom for a short while and managed to bin a couple of things. Slow going, but it's a start.
I have my annual health check appointment today and it's with the one health practitioner nurse I didn't want to see. She's notorious for running late and not the cheeriest of people either. Still, needs must and I'd rather get it over and done with for another year. Tea tonight is a prawn salad, fruit & yogurt for afters.
@TA - Good luck with the phone appointment today and also the undies search. I'm a fan of M&S bras too. Well done to your DS on the (wibbly wobbly) hedge trimming.
@Gers - Your nephew and cycling partner are certainly taking on a daunting challenge, I hope all goes well for them and that your nerves hold up!
@dp1 - Fingers crossed you'll get an in-person appointment after the phone consultation. A list of what you want to say is a good idea too. Is it really that long since you were promised an extra stair rail? Time flies.
@Ruby - I expect your DM will be eager to get home and I hope she'll be discharged soon.
Right, time to make a move so I'll wish everyone a good start to the new week. Take care and help yourself to a virtual hug if you need one. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning all. Late starter today.
I was sneezing a lot yesterday and then started to feel a cold coming on. Had to take some Night Nurse, which then made me not wake up this morning! I've phoned the dentist to postpone today's check up appointment and have just taken some paracetamol.
Luckily I didn't have much planned for today so will potter and do some ironing. Defrosted some burgers to cook for tonight, along with salad and coleslaw. DH has finally agreed that the air con in his car isn't working so he's going to take it to the dealer today as, although it's 5 yrs old, he reckons it's just within the warranty period. Me, I'm not so sure!
Anyway, have a good day everyone and hope things go well.

Morning all...Dry and cloudy so far so there's a load on the line. I've also finihed taking off the skirting boards, dado rail and capet grippers, no I just have ot figure out how to remove the cupboard that's been exceptionally well built into the fireplace. Got given a mahoosive cucumber yesterday at the allotment and smacked my self in the leg stamping on some wood which was all my own fault but I did swear loudly. Love your cupboard Ruby, if I could afford it, I'd get two
well done on mse'ing it! I might go and pick some blackberries in a bit and steal some overhanging apples from the tree, shame the fig tree isn't nearer the wall, there's loads on that and they don't get eaten. Otherwise, there'll be a lot fo thinking about the garden and going through my list of stuff to do.
TTB, i passed on your tip about using chia seeds instead of egg to another lady on the allotment , she was very pleased because she wants to try some fritters but can't eat eggs. TA, glad your son sorted your hedge. camelot, yes, and it won't be long before the great runner bean giveaway starts happeningdp1, hope you get some help...
And Izzy, you mentioning things going up, here's a picture I took last week. On the left is a Rolo from 2010, on the right is a rolo from 2025, so not only are they more expensive, they are most definitely shrinking...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11 -
Hi everyone,
RR, Rob didn't seem to have any stomach upsets while he was at the home but he seemed to be always having them at home, maybe someone should monitor that.
Gers I'm sure they'll be fine and have a wonderful time. Good luck at the orthopaedist.
Taff, that's terrible, it's so insidious the reduction in size.
We're all at sixes and sevens here, boxes everywhere, they're supposed to be moving in three weeks!
Just heard that a relative of Steve's died last night. We took Steve's sister to see her in the hospice last week and knew it couldn't be long. She was 89 but completely with it, she'd had a wonderful life so was not unhappy to go. It was a complicated relationship, she was married to Steve mum's cousin but they were very close.
Have a good day.11
