New washing machine

My last washing machine lasted just over 10 years and I did not bother registering it.
I had a water leak 18 months ago and found out on Youtube what part was needed, I bought a pattern part and fitted it myself, machine lasted another 18 months before a different electronic fault occurred and would not work.
I bought a new one last week.
It is an Indesit and reading the paperwork it apparently comes with a free 10 year guarantee on all parts.
I am wary of giving out my personal details to anyone so thought I would ask here if you think it is worth registering, it can be done over the phone or online, they obviously need my name and address, hopefully only want an email address and not a phone number in case I start getting unwanted calls.
Do you usually register your appliances and what is your experience?

What's the issue with a possible unwanted call against the advantage of being covered for parts for 10 years?
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth!
I registered my Hoover washing machine for their similar offer and haven't heard a peep since the confirmation.3 -
What do you think they are going to do with your info? Phone numbers should be optional.I registered our Bosch WM and tumble dryer for their 5 year warranty and have had to call Bosch out twice. Once for the WM, which turned out to be installer error (me) and once for the RD when it was 13 months old (failed circuit board). Sorted out very quickly with no charge both times. The Indesit warranty however is not so good as it only covers parts not labour.0

I registered my Indesit when I bought it a decade or so ago. It resulted in me getting unsolicited mail (physical post, not email) for several years from Domestic and General.I've recently replaced it. Decided not to bother registering the new one.N. Just block the number of any unsolicited calls0

They offer free parts under the warranty, but not free labour and you have to use their engineers for the repairs.
When I checked after my washing machine developed default it was actually cheaper to get someone independent then go through there repair service with the free parts but the cost of the callout. This will obviously depend on what is wrong with the machine at the time. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I worked for Hotpoint for years, we did a 5 year guarantee on parts. We charged about 3 times what the local chap charged for labour so he would usually end up cheaper.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.1

I have had a couple of Bosch appliances for over 10 years. I get an email about once a month, which responds nicely to the delete button. For those who like nuisance phone calls can I recommend car insurance. I had to give my mobile no to mine 9 years ago & I had never had a junk call until then.0

Thanks for the replies.
I had a feeling the Indesit labour charges would be way higher than a local repairer.
I do have a burner email address that I use when I can. Companies sell personal information, apparently it is a huge money spinner.
I changed a water inlet valve 18 months ago on the previous machine, the pattern part was half the price of the Indesit part, both are manufactured in China.
I assume the new machine comes with a 12 months manufacturers guarantee.
Still deciding whether to register the machine, it looks as if a phone number is not needed to register.0 -
I had to call Bosch when my washing machine was a couple of years old. There was a bra wire in it ( ahem ). No charge.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
