An update, which hopefully will be useful to anyone else in the same position.

I tried unsuccessfully to reach agreement with CPS Midlands and NET Trams who both insisted that their T&Cs somehow constituted the byelaws governing the car park.

I made a claim via money claim online against both CPS Midland and NET trams as joint defendants.

CPS defended the claim (they also tried to include their own solicitor advocate to provide expert evidence to the court, in my opinion to make you think about risk expose of continuing with the claim, since the directions questionnaire mentions £750...), NET Trams did not defend. As the claim was transferred to my local court, I received a cheque with no explaination from NET, who later confirmed it was a full settlement of the claim.

I can only assume they didn't want the hassle of defending the claim, or they didn't want their action and position tested in court. Either way it's settled.

Great! Well done you. Very proactive.

I hope you have formally discontinued your claim against CPS Midlands? If not you could be absolutely clobbered with costs if it carries on and you don't end it promptly.

Thanks for the advice, yes I've completed the N279 form, sent to the court and copies to the defendants. I plan to call the court and make sure it's been received, but I've left a bit of time for it to be processed.

A bit of an aside, everyone should learn basic lock picking. It's very easy and most of these clamps can be removed in seconds.

It's a good life skill and helps you understand how to protect your property based on the realistic capabilities of locks.
