Hi Trace-J:
For me, this is what the whole discussion turns upon.
No offence to you, but generally speaking, no-one seems to consider those who already might be forced to work on Sundays in restaurants, theme parks, leisure etc
I see the following as the key points...
- for many Sunday is a special day
- ... but many would like the freedom/convenience/business opportunity to shop or trade freely on Sunday.
- there is a risk that some will be forced to work on a Sunday
- ... but some would like the opportunity to earn extra cash, often to help ends meet.
The solution -
Deregulate Sunday opening
AND
Enshrine in law the worker's right not to choose not to work on Sundays in the service industries.
Give this law REAL teeth - enforceable via employment tribunals, so that unscrupulous employers cannot make Sundays part of employees' contracts.
Any thoughts? We are QPR, say we are QPR!0 -

I'm against it. There's no need to have shops open longer on a Sunday. I think it's nice to have one day of the week where it's more relaxed. People need to find something to do other than shopping!
I couldn't agree more. Let's have a good rest on Sunday and put our feet up! No hassle or frustration. We were designed to rest on day a week. God did, and if He needed a rest how much more do we need one?!0
