Now TV stream stops for adverts

I have a black Now TV box (not the 4K one).
I only use it to watch Sky SportsF1.
When Sky goes to an ad break, the stream stops and I'm thrown back to homepage (this is the top level page with the app icons; now, iplayer, Netflix etc.) I have to run the now app, find the channel and start it again. BUT if its an ad break, it bombs out again.
I've done a factory reset
It never did this 3 weeks ago when the last F1 race was on, haven't used it since then.
I've raised it with now support. I'm just looking for other ideas on here.
