When I use the water, the first litre or so drains away with no issue, but after that it backs up, draining about half the speed it should. If you don't have any joy with the suggested methods above, you can get drain unclogging gel specifically designed to dissolve hair (a common plug issue for bathrooms).

I bought some from Screwfix when I didn't want to rip open a load of board, and it worked in short order.
