    That's not accurate, the headline actually says 

    "Martin Lewis urges anyone who had children between 1978 and 2010 to check as many 'owed thousands' by HMRC"

    According to the article, it isn't the children who are owed anything, it's people (predominantly women) who took time out of the workplace to look after children or relatives could be able to get some national insurance credits towards their state pension.

    Has your wife checked their SP entitlement? Do they have "missing years" or not a full SP entitlement?

    If they have full entitlement, they won't get more money through this. If they don't have this, they may do. 

    Step 1. Is to check entitlement online.

    I had children between those dates - but my pension forecast already shows the amount I will receive and states 'I can make no improvement on that figure', so although I fit the headline, it doesn't apply to me. 

    I am though about to reach pension age .
