It is not always straightforward making a new New Style JSA claim for a new period following on from a previous JSA claim period having been exhausted after 6 months.

There is something called linking periods, which often means that another claim cannot be made straightaway as there is a wait period of many weeks before new claim can be made.

Linking periods ( From JSA Advice for Decision Makers)
R1021 Two or more JSPs (Job Seeking Periods) are treated as one JSP where they are separated only by1
    1. twelve weeks or less or
    2. one linked period (see R1027 – R1036) or more than one linked period where one follows immediately
    after the other or
    3. any linked periods that are separated by a period of twelve weeks or less or
    4. linked periods immediately followed by a period of twelve weeks or less or
    5. linked periods immediately preceded by a period of twelve weeks or less or
    6. any combination of 3., 4. and 5. or
    7. one or more periods for which the claimant has been called to serve on a jury and is required to attend
court. But such periods should follow immediately one after the other.
Week means a period of seven days
Thankyou for posting this, really helpful.

I will need to read up on R1021, R1027 to R1036 and how they fit in with 21090 and 21091

If anyone else is interested in the ADM mentioned by @huckster here it is
    https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/65a923beed27ca001327b232/admr1.pdf

If ive understood what @huckster posted (and i don't), it reads to me that:

i need 12 weeks or more break before a claim can be made (point 1 above)

    or is it

    24 weeks, which is 12 weeks "preceded"  + 12 weeks "followed"  (points 4 & 5 above)?

I think it is 12 week break between claim periods.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
