Virgin Money Club M Travel Insurance

Options
Hi, my parents have pre-existing conditions (Dad has coronary artery stent and Mum has Diabetes-Type 2 and Ischaemic heart disease). They're going for a well-deserved break this year and have splashed out so for business class tickets. But the best travel insurance quote I have found for them is around £650 for the single trip! I don't think its the pre-existing conditions as much as it is the cancellation costs (I have put cancellation costs of £5,000 each in order to cover the airline tickets).

One solution was to get them the Virgin Money Club M (£150 per annum fee with worldwide travel insurance) ... I spoke to them but they said we have to get them a bank account first and then ask whether their pre-existing conditions can be covered (at a price).

Has there anyone with similar medical conditions on the Virgin Money Club M account and could you give an indication if a) these conditions were covered and b) how much extra it costed?

Does anyone know how much cancellation costs they cover?

£5k pp is not a vast amount for travel insurance.

Looking for me, to go from £5k to £7.5k is only an extra £10 or 12%.  Going from £1k to £5k was a fair bit more (33%) but the step up added a lot more coverages and not just increased the maximum cancellation cost.

Also check the cost of an annual policy, sometimes they are cheaper than single trip

Virgin Money Club M is a £5k limit on cancellation

As above, check out annual policies, you might be surprised.

When I reduce cancellation costs to £3000 I get something the single trip insurance to about £303, which is much better ... except that it does not fully cover the costs of the flights and hotel if something went wrong and they needed to cancel.

Sticking with £5000 cancellation costs - the annual policy is around £750, only £100 more than the single trip! But I could not find one cheaper. Hence, why I thought about the Virgin Money Club account as a work around.
