Nationwide card Authenticator gadget

I recently switched to Nationwide and made an on-line purchase using their debit card and card reader authentication.
The site said the transaction failed and to try again. That also failed.
Checking on the banking app, despite the “failures” there were two payments made from the account!
Anyone else had the same problem? I will scrap the gadget and use the app to authorise payments in the future.

Why use the 'gadget' if the app works?0

As a new customer, for my first “on line” transaction, I could either use the card reader, or the app (which I have on my phone). I chose the card reader.VXman said:Why use the 'gadget' if the app works?
I assume the app will work, but haven’t tried it for authenticating an on-line purchase. Only had the account since Wednesday.0 -
I suspect it will not make any difference, it sounds like it is an issue with the retailer's systems, not card security.Frozen_up_north said:I recently switched to Nationwide and made an on-line purchase using their debit card and card reader authentication.
