    If you have it in writing that the E.O. says BG owes you £5K, send BG a letter before action telling them to pay up within 30 days. Then in a month, submit an MCOL claim. You should get a judgement in your favour (by default if they don't bother to turn up), and then you can send the bailiffs in.
    Seem to recall someone doing just that, and BG (it might have been a different energy company) were scrabbling around to find a checkbook before the bailiffs started clearing out the offices.

    Near as I can tell, the £5k was not actually charged, but it is hard to be sure...

    That's correct MWT. It has been caught by the Ombudsman and they have ordered BG to recalculate bills.
