Hi First timer here.
To allow insurance works to be carried out on my home my family and I have been living for the past 8 months in leased Alternative Accommodation.
During this time we have had regular inspections of the AA by the landlords agency concerning cleaning inspections and no issues flagged up.
Now we approach the end of the tenancy I am told by the Loss Adjuster that the end of tenancy clean, required as part of the lease agreement is to be paid for in full by me and is not reimbursable.
We have the top level of insurance cover available via one of the big providers.
My view is that yes we have lived in this AA and yes we would be responsible for cleaning our own home but no we would not be required to have our home Professionally Cleaned.
Talking about a cleaning cost of just shy of £700.
Is this common as in an end of tenancy clean for Alternative Accommodation linked to an insurance claim being not viewed as part of a claim ?

I wouldn't expect the insurer to pay.
I also wouldn't expect £700 - my last one was £220.0 -
How big is the property? £700 is a lot. Our last was less than half that for a 100m2 property in central London.
I would recommend shopping around on the price, probably declining the upsells on additional services unless the contract explicitly states they are required. If the insurer won't pay for the cleaning then log a complaint as it is an additional incurred expense that you otherwise wouldnt have had. There are many cases on the ombudsman website of them upholding cases for additional costs due to being in alternative accommodation; can't see any for cleaning (upheld or not) so suggests they arent reaching the ombudsmen0 -
Are you contractually required have to have a paid professional clean because if you can clean yourself to a similar standard then just do that? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
The obligation is only to return the property to the same condition it was in when you started the tenancy. If that is the case, dispute it with the TDS.
Either way, this isn't a cost for the insurance to pick up.0 -

Does it specifically state that the end of tenancy clean has to be a Professional Clean?Skibumski said:Talking about a cleaning cost of just shy of £700.
How many people and for how long has the cleaning company said the work will take?
Let's consider the charge rate for the Cleaner at £25 per hour.
That would mean 28-hours of labour, so 3 or 4 days.
That seems like a lot of cleaning.
Are you King Charles?
I heard that he is currently living in Windsor Castle because Buckingham Palace is having some work done.
Could take 3 or 4 days to clean Windsor Castle.
