Good morning 😊
It has been a frustrating one, so far. When we had heavy rain the other day, water collected between the panes in one of the kitchen double glazed windows. These are still under warranty, but trying to get someone to come out to sort it, has been a nightmare. A warranty is supposed to cover us against this sort of thing. Anyway, the end result of several phone calls, is that they are coming out this afternoon. We will see.
I like ‘Friday tidy’.
The bathrooms need a going over, and there’s a bit of picking up and putting away in the living room, to do.
There’s no cooking tonight, as there is enough chilli left over from last night, which makes it a very easy day for me. I do like being in the kitchen though, so might see what I can rustle up for the weekend.
@-taff would you mind posting your courgette fritters recipe, please. I do make them myself, but this bit caught my eye: ‘ and at last I have perfected the recipe’. It’s always good to try old things new ways 😊 I also like serving them with chilli jam.
The new social gathering at the library yesterday, was okay. I’m not sure it’s my thing long-term, but I will stick it out for a couple of weeks to give it a chance, as it was nice to meet new faces. I don’t eat cake, but there were different ones available, and I was able to bring some home, which was appreciated by its recipients.
I don’t mind spiders @YorksLass I often have to remove them from the house, as the others won’t.
Hope you all have a good day 😊9 -
Taff I think they are all struggling this one was on the news recently has they had there funding cut and had to half there staff I think all admin and everything is reliant on volunteers and we got a email at the beginning of the week to say they hadn’t managed to secure any more funding and we’re having to lay another three staff off it’s a shame as you say they are such lovely peaceful places8

Morning all
Dry here for now but no sun, they have said we should get some later. DD has a wash on the go which she will hang out before she goes to work.
OH is off today and just gone to do his dads shopping and get some GF bread I found GF fish fingers so we will be having a fish finger sandwich for dinner 😃
We had a good day with the new lad yesterday he had two meltdowns which was good for me to see, he had a huge one in Tesco I think because of the noise and he chucked his hat across the fruit and veg and then said ‘well now my hats gone ‘ I looked at his mum and we both started laughing and she said you are perfect for this job 😃 we managed to calm him down and I went outside with him while she did the shopping.
I will go and see mum this afternoon my sister went yesterday and said she looked so much better, I’m hoping they will keep her in for a few days more to make sure the infection has gone.
Floss I have been on tamoxifen for five years and my body has got used to it now I will try the new one and see how I get on they have said I can always swap back if I need to, they said another two years should be enough, I was pre menopausal when I started so tamoxifen was the only choice I had.
Scarlett sorry your DH has had to stop driving let’s hope the tests come back ok xx
Taff glad your OH seems to be on the mend xx
Have good days all and take care xx13 -
Afternoon folks. I'm back from the opticians and the saga of the specs goes on! Every pair of specs I have had over the years has caused them a headache and these are no exception! My problem is I have a very narrow bridge and the selection of suitable specs available has diminished over the years. No amount of faffing they did worked and apparently I shouldn't have been sold these in the first place. So under the guarantee they offered to replace them for different frames. I don't get on with nose pads so that narrows my choice down even more. She even had me trying children's frames on at one point! Finally she produced a suitable frame that I liked but, sadly, they are by a posh designer so I had the difference to pay making them the most expensive pair of glasses I have had. Now ordered and in the meantime I can keep the new specs which are fine for distance, just not reading so out come the cheapo reading glasses again and the wait goes on! xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11

That’s frustrating for you, @TravellingAbuela 🤞 the new frames do the job.6

It's a very intuitive one TTB so do as you feel is right.4 medium ish courgettes grated and lightly salted and left to drip, then squeezed either after overnight in the fridge or a few hours depending on how organised you are.Half a packet of mint from the sm, or a good handful of your own leaves, preferably spearmint, the same of parsely, the same of dill, if no fresh dill, dried is good, a very good shake with the top off.A small handful of sweecorn or peas, frozen if you have either or none if not.3 eggs3 to 4 small icecream scoops of gram flour [ not too much because it will make it taste too much of chickpea otherwise] My ice cream scoop thingy is about the size of an eggcup so I put in those3 finely grated garlic cloves [or more if you like them]four to six or seven [ depending on size of bulb] spring onions, finely choppedA handful of parmesan grated on a fine grateA packet of feta, crumbled finelyA good pinch or two of saltMix very well. Use the ice cream scoop to measure out a portion in the frying pan, then flatten a little bit, fry for a few minutes on either side, the first lot in always take longer than the rest, when the pan is up to heat, they're much quicker. They will be or should be easy to turn with two flat implements [ I use two silicone spoon thingies] . As you fry in batches the mixture in the bowl will get looser, don't worry, it'll be fine.My fryng pan will do seven or eight at a time [ it's a big pan] and these quantities will make about 26 to 30. I made them last night and a friend of OHs came round, another friend came round today for lunch and there are none left.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi7

Thank you @-taff
I do a vegan version, replacing the eggs with chia seeds and making a gloop. I never thought to add vegan cheese in, that’s something I’m going to try, and I haven’t added mint before, so that’s interesting. I have all the ingredients in stock, so will give it a go, possibly on Sunday. We like courgette fritters, and a new variation of them will be good 😊6 -
Sorry, I meant to say finely sliced for the spring onions...I reckon a bit of nutritional yeast would work too, and maybe even some chopped walnuts or pine nuts or something like that.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5
