I don't use Facebook messenger much, and a couple of weeks ago I got a new phone.
Facebook and messenger were tranferred from my old phone, and facebook is working as normal.
However, messenger isn't working as normal. A friend had messaged me a phone number, before I'd got my new phone, and the message wasn't there. In fact, the last message was from June 2024, and I knew that I'd communicate with her several times since then. Also, I clicked on somebody else, who I'd been communicating with quite a bit, and there's was nothimg there, it said that he and I weren't friends on Facebook.
Interestingly, the date beside both these people corresponds to when I last communicte with them, but their messages aren't there on my new phone.
Please help.
TIA
David.

Your messages should be online at www.facebook.com/messages and AFAIK are not stored on your device.0

Facebook is fine, but messenger is not up to date. All the people I expected to see there have appeared ok, but not up to date.David.0 -
Since late 2023 Messenger has been rolling out end‑to‑end encryption (E2EE) by default. Encrypted chats live on your devices, not Meta’s servers, unless you turned on the encrypted backup and restored it with your PIN on the new phone. If you didn’t, the history from the old phone won’t appear on the new one.0

I think I turned on encrypted back up, it asked me for a pin and I made a pin, but things haven't changed on my messenger.David.0 -
