Atom Bank savings account rejection

Good Evening,
I shall be grateful for thoughts from folks in the know on this one. My wife applied to Atom Bank for a savings account. It was rejected. Trans Union score is excellent, has bank accounts et al with healthy balances and all other indicators suggest a comfortable stable position. The only downside is that there is no evidence of borrowing - credit cards etc. Sadly, therefore, no Savings account afforded to this excellent potential new customer. Atom "chat" shed no light on this and blamed Trans Union in a rather short plasticky way. Any ideas? Thanks DW

Atom only carry out a soft search to verify ID so nothing to do with CRA credit score (which is worthless) or general credit worthiness.
What stage did the application get to?1 -
Thanks for your reply. Right to the end of the application. FWIW My application went through easily. (Address is stable at 27 years.)Isthisforreal99 said:Atom only carry out a soft search to verify ID so nothing to do with CRA credit score (which is worthless) or general credit worthiness.

A savings account doesn't involve a credit check like say a loan would as they are not lending you money, they will do an ID check.
If the bank allows a manual check/appeal, do that else there is nothing else to do, a bank doesn't have to offer services to anyoneSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I was rejected for a cash ISA with Tesco bank who are a trading name of Barclays despite having had a bank account, mortgage and business account with Barclays
They wouldn't tell me whit but claimed to have checked with TransUnion and Cifas neither of which they actually did
They also told National Hunter I had submitted inconstant details which is completely untrue.
I am going to ask the ombudsman to concentrate their minds1 -
Thanks. Yes, our reply and reason was somewhat asinine. I shall close my account and move on. My wife has already secured a good rate elsewhere.Jumblebumble said:
