I want to attach the document to an email (gmail) but save it to my computer NOT to the google gmail account

In hope someone can come along to guide me.
Thank you

Your post title and text seem to be asking two different questions.

Is this a document you have created in Pages?

You can export that to PDF and save it to your Mac by selecting the destination.

Sorry @oldernonethewiser for my clumsy wording.

I am creating the document in Pages, exporting it to PDF and saving to my Mac. But, when I try to open it I have a problem as the document is in shade and therefore I am unable to open it

Pages won't open the PDF but Preview will.

If you look at the PDF using Finder is it greyed out?

    Yes, it is greyed out.
Maybe I am approaching it the wrong way...

What I want to do is create a document in Pages that is text plus some photos. Then, I can attach this to a my email so I can share the document with others...
What is the best way to go about achieving this end?

    Thank you

You "should" be able to create such a thing in Pages, I've done it myself.

The PDF should be readable by others and by you.

If you right click on the PDF it should show "open with"

Is that not an option that shows up?
