Having placed a notification this morning in regards to a credit card scam, the whole post now seems to have gone missing for some unknown reason. How do you place notifications and then find them again?

I'd imagine it was deleted as I can't see it in your post history.
If you were the person that made the thread this morning along the lines of "watch out for phone calls from Andrew Steven (probably a fake name), he tried to scam me" or something similar, I can see why it might have been deleted as I couldn't imagine how it would be helpful to anyone, and if everyone made a thread when they received a scam call, this forum would be little else.
Or there may have been another reason, I didn't see how the thread unfolded before it was deleted.
Or it was a different thread entirely!Know what you don't0

As above, the issue will be more to do with the thread having been deleted rather than managing notifications as such, but you'll find that you can manage thread bookmarking, notifications and so on within your user profile.Anotheronebitesthedust said:Having placed a notification this morning in regards to a credit card scam, the whole post now seems to have gone missing for some unknown reason. Sadly it would be a shame as there are too many scammers these days but I've no idea why it is no longer there, I thought it would be useful to give the name in case others came across this. He is clearly using the same name over and over again.Exodi said:I'd imagine it was deleted as I can't see it in your post history.

Thanks, I did go through notifications on my profile but couldn't find it, it seems you to to all the trouble to get something out there as a warning for it to be just taken down but given no reason for it, how are we to learn if you don't actually know what you did wrong.eskbanker said:

Actually, if you read the forum rules it may help you to understand if you did something wrong.

I didn't see your original thread but if you did name someone that may be the reason for removal of your post.0

If I'm honest, when I read your thread my first thought was that I couldn't imagine it would be helpful to anyone (to be clear I didn't report it), though I was glad you didn't get scammed.Anotheronebitesthedust said:

It was a just a big wall of text with no paragraphs, which you could summarise as someone called him and asked for his bank details, to which he refused.Pollycat said:Actually, if you read the forum rules it may help you to understand if you did something wrong.

The name provided was obviously made up by the scammer, it was along the lines of "Andrew Steven" or something like that and the OP was warning people to watch out for 'Andrew Steven'.
While I think general education around scams is useful, as well as general guidance like not giving your card details to someone who called you, I'm not sure it's helpful if everyone who received a scam call made a thread, nor to warn people about specific fake names - if anything any [Common English First Name] + [Common English First Name] should be a red flag (who knows why they don't like last names but I consume a decent amount of documentaries on scamming, and the scammers nearly always identify as James Brian or John Michael').
This is just speculation, I didn't see how the thread unfolded - I saw someone responded something like "paragraphs..." so I'm not sure if there was a snarky exchange, but it matters not, the thread was deleted.

To be clear I just wanted to get the name out there in case others came across him using the same name for scamming others. He never asked for my bank details at all, so I am not sure where you got that from. It was a credit card scammer. If you read the content you would have seen what process he was following.
New paragraph - I am a new user on here, the response "paragraphs" I found extremely rude but no "snarky exchanges" as you put it were made by me, I simply ignored that person. This comes with the territory no doubt, some very unpleasant people online. Thumper comes to mind.....
New paragraph - I has put me off of posting anything else on this site. Anyway I just wanted to get this one across to at least be straight about this but it is clear this is not a friendly site at all - why I bother spending time warning others is beyond me - won't be happening again I can assure you.0

Although your post was obviously meant to be helpful, I agree with other posters that it probably wouldn't help as people might read your post but not remember a couple of months later if they receive a call from 'Andrew Steven'.Anotheronebitesthedust said:To be clear I just wanted to get the name out there in case others came across him using the same name for scamming others. I'm not sure what you mean about "paragraphs" being rude but if your post was a wall of text, it does make it hard to read.
It's unfortunate that you feel this isn't a friendly website.
There's a wealth of information here that you seem to want to cut yourself off from.
 But that is your choice.0
