I keep reading that it's best to have only one spyware programme.
Which one of these should I get rid of? SPYBOT-search and destroy
SPYWARE BLASTER
or, are they part of the same programme?

Spyware Blaster stops spyware from ever getting on your computer,but you have to keep checking to update it.
Spybot scans your computer,so its different than Spyware Blaster.
You can have as many spyware programs you want but you can only have 1 antivirus + firewall running,
I use this one http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/ it a Spyware scan .There are lots to choose from but 2 of the spyware programs is enough.0 -
As said above you can keep the two you have got, they will co exist quite happily - I have them on my computer0
