The Santander Edge credit card fees are going up to £4 a month. Not sure if this is just for new customers. Also the 2% cashback introductory offer is no more plus the £15 a month limit for cashback has been reduced to £10

No notification to existing card holders about these changes that I'm aware of but I fear the worst. Can they curtail the 1 year of 2% cashback intro offer early? Or indeed the £15/mth maximum?

Shame, it's the best cashback card deal by some way at the moment.

Ditched mine at the end of the 12-months 2% promo.

I notice google AI says the increase to existing customers is after the 24th July statement. I haven’t had any notification yet. I’m expecting an email shortly about the changes. Shame to increase the fee to £4 and at the same time reduce the max cashback to £10. It wouldn’t be worth keeping the card for myself personally.  As I regularly spend over 1k a month it wouldn’t be worth keeping the Santander - I have a very old cashback card (Barclaycard) which I can get 0.5% with no fee. I’ll be digging that out and dusting it off.

Sad news though, at the moment it seems that all the small little extras available are disappearing, make no wonder people are really struggling with the cost of living.

Existing customers might be ok for a little longer:

Above shows £3 fee and 2%/1% £15 for customers who opened the card before 24 July 2025.

Unrecommendable in its new form; unless you spend no less than £800 and no more than £1000 each month which gets you in that 0.5%-0.6% soft spot. IMHO this is too narrow a window for a fee paying card and the Barclaycard Avios card is now a better option while the Nectar payout route exists.

Glad I kept the Edge CC beyond its first year and didn't attempt to churn it as I originally intended. Hopefully it joins the long list of NLA Santander cashback credit cards which they never seem to alter for existing customers!

I had a feeling they would reduce the benefits as that seems to be the way things are going.

Does anyone know if existing customers of the Halifax cashback credit card get a flat 0.25% for all spend now instead of 0.5% once you've spent £4000? I tried asking customer services when the change for new customers came in and they didn't know!

Good to know. I have the card on the 1% cashback deal £3 per month. If it goes up to £4 I'll just cancel it.

What does that work out as a cashback percentage even if it is in Nectar ?

I’ve still got an old Barclaycard that pays 0.5% cashback fee free and no cap. So that works well as it’s ultra flexible just a low cashback but about the best you can get nowadays
