Returfing lawn during water restrictions
Options
I planned to replace the lawn this spring but didn't get round to it. Not a bad thing as Kent has been too hot for too long.
Problem now is we have a hosepipe ban so is doing it in early October advisable? If the ban has not been lifted by then will I be wasting the money?
Will climate change put a stop to ever being able to lay turf?

How large is the area. Could you water with a watering can on the days you don't get rainThrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time1 -
In some cases, businesses are exempt from hosepipe bans. So get a pro to do it, maybe pay a local gardener to water it every other day.1

75 square metres - how many cans? Anyway the advice is not to walk on new turf for several weeks.
Not sure it feels right to get a professional to use the water that I must not use0 -
There was a recent article I spotted where someone who has recently turfed his law was given an exemption from the water restriction on relation to watering the grass.
I'd suggest contacting your local water company to ask for advice1 -
So, 75 square metres is about 8.5M x 8.5M. Not a huge lawn area, and about the same as when I seeded mine from bare dirt. I did mine in July. Could you get a water butt and collect the rain in the next few weeks? You could then use a pressure washer hooked up to the water butt. Take pictures of the butt in case anyone reports you so you then have evidence that you weren't using mains water. I found it far superior to a hose because it provides a longer reaching mist, rather than a heavy stream of water that you get from a hose1

Newly laid lawns ARE exempt from the hosepipe ban...for 28 days after layinghttps://inturf.com/turf-care/hosepipe-ban-and-laying-new-turf/
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.2 -
I've got 2 water butts, both brim full at the moment.
Looks like I have 2 options so will book the work for late September/early October.
Thanks everyone for your help1
