DCBL fine

Options
I’ve received a fine from Dec 2023 never had any prior notifications!!
Is this fake / scam?

Letter reads:

NOTICE OF DEBT RECOVERY - Unpaid Parking Charge £170.00

We previously wrote to you at a different address but did not receive a response. We therefore utilised a tracing service which indicated this is your current address. We have been writing to you because you have an unpaid parking charge and Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd (DCBL) have been instructed to collect the outstanding balance on behalf of our Client.

The parking charge was issued because the vehicle was parked in contravention of the terms and conditions outlined on the signage as agreed to by the driver when the vehicle entered and parked on private land.

To ensure no further action is taken, you should make immediate payment by scanning the QR code below.

Details of other ways to pay are on the reverse of this letter. To discuss your case, please call 0203 597 3959.

Supreme Court Decision about Parking Charges

A Supreme Court ruling in November 2015 reinforced that it is lawful for a parking operator to pursue payment of a correctly issued unpaid parking charge through the County Court. The case was an important test case for companies like our client. You can find further information

At this point, you are no longer able to appeal the parking charge. Your next opportunity to dispute the charge would be if the matter was taken to Court.

Failing to make Payment

You now have 14 days from the date of this letter to either pay the outstanding amount or call us to discuss repayment. This case is not subject to High Court or bailiff action, however, should you fail to contact us, we will recommend to our client the commencement of legal action against you.

Definitely not a fine,  just an invoice from a private parking company

No it's not a fake,  it's just a powerless debt collectors letter from DCBL

Which parking company issued the PCN  ?
  • This is the first letter I’ve had I’ve had nothing else.

Has client CP plus ltd on the letter

OK, so C P Plus issued the pcn you have not seen,  probably gone to an old address

Come back to this thread if or when you receive a Letter of Claim giving you 30 days notice
  • It’s real then? I don’t want to pay £170 if I don’t need to

Of course it's real and the reason you got no previous letters is likely because you haven't updated your logbook address. The PCN and reminder went to your old address we reckon. Your error.

Have you updated your logbook now?

Have you read the NEWBIES FAQS thread? Obviously you don't pay but you MUST update your logbook with the DVLA and MUST contact CP Plus / Group Nexus to tell them to erase the old address.

OK. Send an email to Group Nexus with your VRM and a copy of the TNC letter and your logbook, and ask their DPO for copies of all letters regarding any/all PCNs issued to you.
